Puggle Puppies – A Straightforward Friend.

Actually a cross breed between a pug and a beagle, puggle puppies are not pure bred dogs but are quite popular.  A puggle puppy is a low-maintenance choice for a pet and usually requires no formal dog training.  By crossing the two breeds, it creates an energetic hound.  These puppies tend to have a thick body with short legs, an excessively wrinkled forehead like the pug, and drooping ears like the beagle.

The average puggle grows to be about 13-15 inches high at the shoulder and can weigh anywhere from 15-30 pounds on average.  The puggle breed has short hair, and though they will shed like most dogs, the small size of the dog coupled with its hair type makes this a minimal problem. The puggle doesn’t require much maintenance, with an occasional bath, nail clipping, and ear cleaning being sufficient.

There are very few unsavory qualities in regards to puggles, though some do inherit the barking and howling traits of the beagle.  It’s also important to note that any cross bred dog can show any of the qualities that are inherent in either of the breeds used in the mix, so it may be good to look up the traits of both beagles and pugs for more information.

These puppies are sweet tempered and affectionate, making them excellent lap dogs.  They get along well with children, strangers, and other household pets.  In fact, they are actually very sociable and enjoy company.  Puggles are very energetic and playful as well, so these dogs need to spend time playing outdoors or going for walks.  This makes dog supplies like leashes and toys a necessity for the puggle.

This particular hybrid, or mixed breed, is also very intelligent, meaning that it’s a simple task to teach your puggle to sit, stay, fetch, roll over, and follow other standard commands with minimal effort.  Overall, this cross breed is a success for those buying their first puppy and don’t want anything complicated.
