Though these clever little puppies are affectionate and loyal toward their owners, Yorkie dogs can be snappy toward children and do not socialize well, becoming aggressive toward other small dogs and animals.  Yorkshire terriers also tend to be suspicious of strangers and will not hesitate to be protective of their home territory.

Overall, you will need to have a protective home environment to keep your Yorkie from becoming easily injured, and the happiest of them will be an “only child” rather than one of a family of pets.  If cared for, these dogs can live more than 15 years and make great pets, especially for older adults.
