Thinking of choosing a dog?

There are many types of dogs to choose from. From the small dogs like the Chihuahua or Yorkshire terrier to the larger ones like the Great Dane or German Shepherd. There are many different breeds available. The American Kennel club currently recognizes some 150 different breeds. Some people will only look to a pedigree, whilst others are happy with a mongrel, which is a cross between various breeds.

As well as to which breed you want, you must choose whether you want a puppy or fully grown canine. Puppies are so cute, but you need to be aware that they will be quite a demand on your time. You will need to start giving them the right dog training, a puppy is going to make a mess and will need toilet training and also some basic commands. But one of your first concerns for your puppy should be its health, you need to find a veterinarian and get your pup the vaccinations it will need.

Even if you decide on a fully grown canine, you will need to get it checked out with a vet and see if all is well and if it needs any vaccinations. However, it may have had some or all of its vaccinations, but be sure. It may also know some basic commands and be toilet trained, making life a little easier for you.
